For Skaters, Coaches, and Announcers

While the WFTDA Officiating Clinics are designed to provide officials with the tools and resources needed to officiate modern roller derby, getting to know and understand the officials’ side of the sport can be extremely valuable for skaters, coaches, and roller derby announcers. We recognize that many skaters and coaches also officiate for their league and play a part in recruiting and training officials. A deep understanding of the rules and their application by a broad spectrum of individuals in the roller derby community benefits the sport as a whole.

Attendees will gain knowledge of rules, theory and application – as understood by officials.

Attendees will be exposed to Officiating Skills Assessments in order to be better positioned to evaluate officials and help them seek Certification.

By being exposed to the language, communication, and procedures of officials, attendees will be able to better negotiate interactions with officials and better able to describe roller derby action.
